215 Day: The Rise of the BMX Kid, Kevin Pritchett Greene (Unpublished)

In celebration of everything 215, we have to give praise to Wynnefield's own Kevin Pritchett Greene.

This up and coming BMX racer is on his way to great things.

Kevin Pritchett Greene began his BMX career at the age of 12 when he started volunteering at the Philly Pumptrack, back in 2014. At the track he would build ramps and shovel dirt, this was all before hopping on the bike. His racing days didn't begin until he was a regular at the pumptrack. Light beginnings and observations found Kevin being enamored by the sport. Before he started officially competing in races, Kevin is also talented in landscaping.

"philly_landscapes" is Kevin's landscaping business.

It's only right to gather the knowledge you've learned, and apply it for yourself.

As soon 2021 hit, Kevin took part in a mentorship program that has been involved at the Philly Pumptrack for some time.

CEO of Union Square Shoes, Jimmy Mac McNeal, took notice of Kevin's desire and talent to be a pro. The extreme sports shoe and apparel company based in Philly, took Kevin under their wing and became his first sponsor. Jimmy Mac also happens to be the founder of Bulldog Bikes, which is the only Black owned BMX company. He provided Kevin with all the gear and bikes he needed succeed.

This partnership has blossomed into greatness. KPG has had a podium finish in all of his ten races. He has placed first in eight of the those races. Kevin has dominated the Novice 17 to 20-year-old class. He won Grand Nationals by ten bike lengths, and now USA BMX has a fierce competitor in their ranks. His trophy case is going to become smaller and smaller, if he keeps this up.

Photojournalist Todd Haas of 6abc did a story on Kevin's recent success in BMX.

Below is the short segment that aired on Philly's 6abc.

Hopefully 2022 will bring KPG even greater success than 2021 did. Keep making the 215 proud!
