The Force MD's came up in the world from their way of Staten Island. In 1981, the group was composed of brothers Stevie D., Antoine "T.C.D." Lundy, and Rodney "Khalil" Lundy, along with their uncle Jessie Lee Daniels. Later, friends "Trisco" Pearson and Charles "Mercury" Nelson joined the group and history was made.
The MD actually stood for Musical Diversity. They lived up to that motto because the group were among the first R&B vocal groups to mix doo-wop-affected singing over hip-hop beats. 1984 is when they got their first big break by signing to Tommy Boy Records. That partnership led them to deliver hits like "Tears", "Love is a House," and the Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis-penned love song "Tender Love".
In the 1990s the three of the groups members died, all within five years of each other. Nelson suffered a fatal heart attack in 1995. Collaborator DJ Dr. Rock died suddenly of AIDS in 1996. In 1998, Antoine Lundy died of Lou Gehrig's disease. Trisco Pearson died of Stage 4 Cancer in 2016.
May they all rest in peace. Brothers Stevie D. and Khalil Lundy are the last remaining members of the innovative R&B group.
