Kevin Hart and Damon Wayans Set to Star in 'Diff'Rent Strokes' (Unpublished)
The Norman Lear classic television show is returning to your screen but in a bit of a remix.
'Diff'Rent Strokes' will be the fourth out of five classic American TV show specials within ABC's "Live in Front of a Studio Audience" series. ABC's live series has been going on since 2019. The network has made re-creations of other classic shows like 'The Jeffersons', 'All In The Family' and 'Good Times'.
'The Jeffersons' - Jamie Foxx Breaks Character
'Good Times' - Original Cast Appearance
Diff'Rent Strokes will be part of a two part night for the "Live" program. The show will be airing with 'The Facts of Life' on December 7th at 9:30 PM EST. Executive producers Jimmy Kimmel and Kerry Washington will be bringing the likes of Kevin Hart, Damon Wayans, John Lithgow and Ann Dowd to the re-enactment.
As you can guess, Kevin Hart and Damon Wayans are playing the roles of Arnold and Willis Jackson. Both characters were previously played the late Gary Coleman and Todd Bridges. The hilarious possibility of these two comedy legends going off script is endless. John Lithgow will be playing Mr. Drummond and Ann Dowd will be playing Mrs. Garrett.
Respectively, each of these characters were previously played by Gary Coleman, Todd Bridges, Conrad Cain and Charlotte Rae. Todd Bridges, Mary Jo Catlett (Pearl Gallagher) and Danny Cooksey (Sam McKinney) are the only surviving member of the main cast. Other cast members have not yet been revealed, but I'm sure the cameos are going to have the nostalgia rushing back.
In Kimmel's announcement clip, the audience seems to already be feeling the vibe of the reprisal.
In a press statement released by ABC, Norman Lear said the following,
"Other than with my family, there's no place I'd rather be in my 100th year than on a soundstage at Sony with these glorious actors reliving what our company had produced all those years ago and sharing it with the millions of viewers who could use a little laughter."
One hundred years on the planet Earth and still thriving. If that's not longevity, then I don't know what is.
If any television network asked you they were "re-enacting" a show for a limited time.
What show would you want to bring back to life with a new cast? The possibilities are endless, let us know in the comment section.
