Among Us is a Social Experiment to Perfect Your Inner Sociopath and Psychopath.
*I wanted to speak to a psychologist to make it more appealing and add another layer*
Wanna ruin your friendships slowly but effectively? Play among us. I’ve only played a small amount of games with two utterly different groups of people. *off angle on camera slaps down white object and black object* Yet I have a great feeling that these two separate groups would eventually end up at the same conclusion.
Hating each other.
The amount of lying that goes into this game is tremendous. You’d be surprised by how much you study each one of your friends’ tendencies and interpersonal relationships between each other. As we and possibly 86 million other players who have downloaded the game, according to SensorTower, have experienced the toxic, sludge like behaviors exhibited.
This isn’t the first game to bring the appeal of deceitful murder mystery to the forefront. We could trace it back to games like Clue and Mystery Mansion for you old heads. We could also point to Mafia, Trouble in Terrorist Town and Uno if you live in a black household.............so much deceit…
Even while I type this article/script in the hue of darkness, under the cover of the night, I feel like I’m transforming…into something…or someone else.
All this research and isolated thought about deception, it makes me feel…
It makes me feel like…likah…sociopath.
Am I a sociopath? What is a sociopath?
Why do games like this exist?
Is it a trial of trust that we test people we know?
Is it to exhibit…MAYBE EVEN RELEASE Demon Time behavior that we naturally as flawed humans have DEEP INSIDE!?!?
These games aren’t new. The human behaviors that exist with it definitely aren’t either. I want to speak with a psychologist. To provide context to these childish games…or so they may seem.
*this is the part where I would speak to a psychologist*
Sociopath according to…*uses posh british accent* Oxford means a person with a personality disorder manifesting itself in extreme antisocial attitudes and behavior and a lack of conscience. In the context of Among Us, the antisocial part doesn’t sit right, right? Which begs another question what’s difference between a sociopath and a psychopath?
A psychopath is a person *coughs in british* a person suffering from a serious mental illness that causes them to behave in a violent way towards other people. In the scientific setting what is the differences actually. Sociopaths are prone to impulsive behavior and often seen as disturbed or unhinged, while a psychopath is cold and calculating, sometimes even charming.
Especially when dealing with the core mechanic of the game.
Imposters have to KILL ALL CREW MEMBERS.
In this social experiment with your friends or randoms, which sidebar is way more terrifying. You don’t know any of these people at all.
You could be hit with “sus” for no reason.
You could hop into a lobby with where a duo of friends double imposter in a game with 1 imposter.
AND YOU DOWNLOADED THE MOBILE VERSION OF THE GAME AND MOST OF ALL YOU CANT TYPE THAT FAST TO EXPLAIN YOUR ACTIONS.
I rather be lied and stabbed to death by my homies, at least it meant something.
I’m…I’m ranting again, like a crazy person…
Anyways the max number of players are 10 players. The game is extremely enticing when there are two imposters. You’ll go to great lengths to lie too. You’ll stay by your best friend and make em vouch that you wouldn’t do anything to hurt em. You could lie to your spouse that you were doing your tasks and not planning to kill them first. You could marinate a person you don’t know that well and be butt buddies throughout the other game until the last second.
Great lengths can be achieved if one scams and blames and whines their way to that blue victory title prompt at the end.
What are you willing to do?
The phrase “anybody can be a killer, if you push em enough.” is extremely true. Even at this small scale, you don’t think your homie won’t stab you in the back over the last drop of Orange Juice on that particular morning? You’d be surprised, people will do you dirty for less.
